April Ross

April Ross has won more than one medal at the Olympics. She is one of a few female beach volleyball players to have achieved this feat. In Tokyo in the coming days, she'll be aiming to win her third gold medal along with first-time Olympian Alix Klineman. Ross also hopes to get her very first Olympic medal. It could be the last chance she'll ever have as she is 39 years old. The athlete is optimistic she'll be successful in achieving top honours. Ross, via NBC Boston, said that when the team performs very well, or even at all, they could win a gold. Then I will also take some chances. Ross was a Californian born in Costa Mesa, California in 1982. Her family lived in the area along with her parents and younger sister. In addition to competing in various sports, Ross was also a student at Newport Harbor High School. She was a basketball player and also ran track, in addition to her volleyball skills in the indoors as a pre-collegiate athlete. She was clearly the best in the game of indoor volleyball. Through her high school years, she played middle blocker outside hitter and setter on the volleyball court as per her bio at the college. Her achievements were rewarded when she was named 1999 Gatorade's Circle Of Champions National Players of the Year. She also captured the 2000 Orange County Athlete of the Award for volleyball. Ross is playing alongside Klineman since the year 2017 but her beach game had been established long before the year. She has had the chance to win numerous events, one of which was with the legendary player of volleyball. Jennifer Kessy coached her from 2007 to 2013. Kessy was Ross's co-coach at the World Championships in 2009. The pair eventually picked up a silver medal at the 2012 Olympic Games in London. They were beaten out for the gold by the legendary team comprised of Misty May-Treanor as well as Kerri Walsh (Jennings). It was fate that had them. Ross became Walsh Jennings' new partner after May-Treanor's retirement. They were able to win the bronze medal in beach volleyball during the Rio Olympics in 2016. Ross played for the Trojans of USC throughout her college the years prior to her professional career. The time she spent at USC was quite impressive. Her freshman year in 2000 earned her the Pac-10 and NCAA Freshman's of Award and also be named an All-American. The team also saw her help in helping the Trojans to make it to the Final Four. The Trojans suffered a heartbreaking personal loss in her sophomore year and yet she went on to repeat as an All-American. Over the course of her final two seasons, she took the Trojans up to the summit and won consecutive national titles. She had established her place as a legend winning the 2003-2004 Honda Sports Award as the highest ranked female volleyball player. Ross was an USC international relations student, was a renowned volleyball player. Margie Ross did not see her daughter reach the top in beach volleyball. As of 2001, when Ross was in her sophomore year studying at USC her mother passed away due to breast cancer. However, she continues to keep her mother's memory close and close. Margie is a source of inspiration throughout her life, as well as on the beaches.
